The building is really interesting, plus the location is convenient for a multitude of places to visit. The staff were really friendly and made the whole stay great. The food is good and has an interesting menu.

Enjoyed my stay. I was on business so travelling alone. Nice atmospheric bar with decent food. Got upgraded to the four poster room which was lovely! Friendly staff, good location and relaxing atmosphere.

    Superb

Friendly enthusiastic staff. Lovely old country style bar and dining areas - Serving good food with a reasonably priced bottle of wine. Nice clean room of reasonable size. Easily accessable position, well placed to explore the area.

    Very good

Personaly it suited us for location to family, it is an old hotel, food is good but not much change in menu, staff are nice and friendly, hotel interier could do with a paint and some general maintenance.

Being here two weeks would have liked more changes to menu.

    Very good

Room was quite a good size - breakfast choices were good. Room service meals were good value and enjoyable. staff were polite. Room was good value for money.

Asked for a quiet room and ended up facing the inner courtyard which was used for smoking - so it was noisy and the sound echoed - the manager did move us which we were happy with. Breakfast was finished much earlier than listed on website - we got down at 9.45 to find almost everthing gone - the staff did get things for us but it was a bit chaotic and had to keep asking for things like cuttlery, bowls, juice etc which made us feel a bit uncomfortable.

Good location pleasent period building and food was very good, staff coped very well considering they were under staffed

Whilst our stay at the fieldhead was pleasent we found that the majority of the chairs in the bar and resturant were very heavily stained whether it was drink or otherwise we found ourselves searching fo clean one and swaping. Also at the breakfast table cups were also stained my wife swaping for a clean one on another table. ALSO WE FOUND THAT THE IT WAS UNDER STAFFED BUT THEY DID A GOOD JOB CONSIDERING THE PRESSURE ON THEM ALL. THE BATH TOWELS DID NOT LOOK FRESH AND WERE HEAVILY CREASED, WE HAVE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL SOME 4 YEARS AGO AND FOUND IT TO BE VERY GOOD THATS WHY WE RETURNED WHILST VISITING RELATIVES.

    Exceptional

We particularly liked the staff, who were very helpful and courteous and sufficient in number to be available when needed. The location just off the M1 was excellent. The food, although not gourmet, was very edible and reasonably priced. The cask beer was well kept. Overall, the stay was good value for money.

    Exceptional

Booking in was a piece of cake. We had an amazing room, very big, very clean and comfortable , two arm chairs , TV and tea/coffee facilities, kingsize bed , very nice!!!,,The Bar facilities catered for all, the breakfast in the morning hit all the right buttons with plenty of choice.

We arrived on an evening that a tribute band was playing in a function room, The catering was stretched, my wife and I ordered Steak and chips, the Steaks were fantastic, the accompanyments were not so good, I did speak to the Duty manager who dealt with the issue very professionally and offered a full refund,to be fair that was not needed at all.. We were delighted with the acciomodation and breakfast, just a shame about the evening meal, this will not be putting us off at all, we will definately return soon, our son is in a Uni nearby and this just suits us pefectly. Regards Mr P

    Very good

I have stayed there before & found it good for a short stay. The restaurant is goog well priced. However I stayed on a Friday night when there was a band playing which kept me awake untill almost 12 midnight & after that the drinkers wer outside my room in the outside smoking area laughing ,shouting & singing. the breakfast was not available before 8am & I needed to leave by that time despite having paid for it. I will be loath to return.

    Very good

The hotel is very nice and the restaurant menu is excellent.I Really like the hotel for may reasons, so it is therefore very frustrating to have to complain. Which I did during my stay. See below.

No early breakfast on Sat, Sun. Room not seviced properly after first of 2 nights stay. Staff are very pleasant, but lack a little bit of training that would make this hotel absolutely excellent. For example. Bar and restaurant areas are confused and when tables are vacated nobody bothers to clear a table for the next group of diners. Everyone seems too busy to take care of the details.
